Off the Needles / Triple Stranded Winston

Winston Pullover - knitting pattern by Jane Richmond

I've finally finished my second project for the open-ended Winston knit-along that began last August. My first project was a Winston Pullover with a funnel neck modification (super easy to do — find my notes here). For my second project I knit using 3 strands of Berroco Mercado to get the super bulky gauge. You could also use 3 strands of Cascade Eco for the same effect.

The yarn is 100% wool and the colourway is Oro which is so rich and warm I want to make everything in this colour! The sweater itself is less drapey than the other 3 Winston's I've knit — all of which were made using Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick (an acrylic and wool blend). This was my first time working with Berroco Mercado and I absolutely loved it, I'm looking forward to my next project with it. This time using just one strand at a time!

I will say that the fabric of this Winston feels thicker and although I was able to get gauge the fit feels less oversized because the fabric density doesn't allow it to stretch and drape quite as much as the original version using the Thick & Quick. Overall I'm really pleased with this project and can't wait to wear it when the weather cools.
