PATTERN UPDATE / Sedum Cardigan

The very first sweater I ever designed was a cardigan which I named Sedum because to me it looked like my planters full of succulents. I must have done some very rough math but for the most part I was winging it. When I posted my finished project on Ravelry the response was really overwhelming and I quickly set out to type up some notes on how the sweater was made. The notes were less than perfect and only one size was offered, it quickly became my goal to write up a proper pattern so that others wouldn't have to wing it as well.

It's been a long time coming, and I mean a really long time coming, the original pattern notes were added to Ravelry's database back in December of 2008. The original was made of pure alpaca which made the garment quite heavy, I found it grew lengthwise as I wore it, and so the mission for an alternate yarn began. You may remember the Shetland Chunky version that was on my needles back in this post, the completed project made it's way into the photos of my Autumn pattern. But the acrylic content of the yarn sort of bugged me and although the pattern was done I wasn't ready to release it. When I stumbled upon Patons Classic Wool Roving, a new addition to the Beehive Wool shop, I fell in love with it and chose it for many small projects I had in mind. I decided to buy a ball in Moss and swatch it to see if it might be a match for the Sedum cardigan. I was able to get gauge and I knit up a sample right away. I am so pleased with the results and although it has been a long time coming I am so glad to share the completed pattern with you.

The new pattern offers 12 different sizes and is broken into two separate size ranges (28-38 & 40-50) for better clarity when following the pattern. Also included is a short tutorial on the Sewn Bind Off.
