Beacon Hill | Cascadia

Not only has Knit Social been working tirelessly to bring us Knit City 2013 at the end of the month, but Amanda and Fiona have been hard at work behind the scenes putting together their first ever book. Cascadia is a book of 11 patterns pairing local designers with local yarn dyers for a book that is truly West Coast. The book also includes interviews with each designer and a bio on each yarn company which brings a personal feel to the pages.

My original submission for the book was actually a raindrop textured hat. Fiona and Amanda liked the stitch pattern so much they wanted to see what it would look like in a cardigan. I set to work sketching a comfy cardi with a doubled shawl collar.

The photo shoot took place on a rainy day in Beacon Hill park, how fitting.

The raindrop pattern flows seamlessly over the entire garment and although it looks similar to a honey comb type stitch there is no cable needle required!

The book is currently available for pre-order and will be launched at the Cooperative Press booth at Knit City October 26th & 27th. The eBook is available right now!

I've also been working behind the scenes on a design for Knit City using their exclusive limited edition colourway (which they've just announced ~yay!), the yarn is by Indigodragonfly and the colourway is called My Other Orca is an Otter. The colour is amazing and I couldn't take the project out without random passers-by commenting on how stunning it was, I can't wait to share it with you!
