NEW PATTERN / Winston Pullover
I'm thrilled to introduce to you the Winston Pullover! This sweater has been off the needles since March but a lot has happened since then and so the pattern was delayed in making it's way out into the world.
I cast on last winter after getting this really strong urge to knit something super bulky, ultra simple, and comfortably over-sized. I've been struck with this urge before and every time, it leads me to Michael's for an arm full of Thick & Quick yarn.
Once I had knit enough yoke to try on, Elsie claimed the sweater as hers. It was simple enough to make my size 34 into an Elsie size, I just decreased the sleeves more quickly and stopped short on the length ...and then I immediately cast on pullover #2 for me!
And as soon as I'd bound off I began living in this sweater. It was exactly the warm and cozy hug I was hoping it would be. And because it knit up so quickly and cost so little (thank you Michael's coupons!) I've put it through the ringer! Say what you will about acrylic blends but there's something to be said for a hand knit that can survive the washer and dryer!!
Everyone was so enthusiastic about the pullover it encouraged me to write up a proper pattern. I dove into the grading and pattern writing before my accident and had nearly completed it when things came to a grinding halt.
The sweater itself has been a huge comfort during my recovery. For the first 3 months, post-surgery, I had to wear a body brace that made my body look lumpy and weird under my clothes. I could really only wear a few things that would conceal it — the Strata tops I'd made right before the crash were in constant rotation. And my over-sized pullover hid my brace perfectly which made me feel a little more like myself.
And so finally, here it is to share with all of you, my over-sized, warm and fuzzy hug, Winston ♥ I truly hope that this sweater brings you or someone who needs it, great comfort in whichever way is needed.
